Interested in becoming a MINIMCA member? Got some questions?

Here are some answers to some questions we've been asked.

Please note: We do our best to keep this FAQ section updated but in case we make a mistake, Club Bylaws and Operations Manuals always take precedence over the material contained in this section.

Q - Do I need to own a MINI in order to be a member of the MINIMCA?

A - No. You don't need to own a MINI, just be an enthusiast about the MINI brand and community.

Q - Is this club owned and paid for by MINI or BMW?
A - No. This is a member supported all volunteer club. We do have a special relationship with MINI USA and BMW NA and this is the ONLY Owners and Enthusiasts club sanctioned and officially recognized by MINI USA.

Q - Does MINIMCA have a relationship with BMWCCA?
A - Yes, We are a sister club to BMWCCA. They help provide some operations support, guidance from BMW and the BMW Council on International Clubs, access to partners and General Liability Insurance.

Q - What kind of memberships are available?
A - A person can purchase a full Membership for $45 per year or can purchase a three-year Membership at a discounted price of $125.  A Member may also have up to 5 Associate Members linked to their primary Membership. Associate Members are additional people that live at the same address as the primary member (i.e. spouse, son, daughter). They have their own system log-on and profile but their membership is paid for by the primary member. Associate Memberships are $25 per year.
 
Q - What benefits do I get as a member?
A - Immediately we are able to offer a $400 rebate from MINI USA on the purchase of any new MINI from an authorized MINI Dealership. Additionally we are working to build out a solid list of discounts and offerings from selected companies that are of value to our members. These include car rental, car care products, auto and home insurance, and discounts at participating MINI Dealerships. We will make announcements as these benefits are finalized.

Q - I like doing Autocross and performance driving events with BMWCCA. Is MINIMCA going to have driving events like this?
A - No. Through our special relationship with BMWCCA, we will partner with the local BMWCCA chapters to participate in their performance driving events. And because of our special relationship, our members can use their MINIMCA membership to access these BMWCCA events without needing to be a BMWCCA member. 

Q - I belong to a few MINI Facebook Groups. What is different about MINIMCA?
A - Six key reasons:
1. You are a member of a national club - if you move or travel your membership is good all across the USA. 
2. This is the only national club with a relationship with MINI USA.
3. Through our partner relationships you'll receive benefits that will more than pay for your membership dues.
4. Local Chapters will provide more events and activities to give you the opportunity to socialize and enjoy your MINI among friends.
5. We have one integrated calendar and as a member of the national club you are able to participate in any event or activity of any Chapter.
6. As a member of a national club you'll have access to Regional and National events. 

Q - Why am I required to pick a Chapter when I join the Club when I know there is no local Chapter in my area?
A - As a new club we do not have chapters in every local geography - yet. By selecting a chapter when you join, we can prioritize where we need to build chapters and are able to identify like-minded members who are interested in leading Chapters. Look at the Chapter Finder map to see our plan for current and future Chapters.

Q - What rights and opportunities do I have as a Member?
A - As a member in good standing, you'll be able to attend and or lead Club events and activities. You can volunteer, serve on committees, and serve on a Chapter Board or the National Board. All of these Member opportunities are detailed in the MINIMCA Operations Manual V01.
